5/17/2023 0 Comments Xee3 alternatives on macWhat Does CleanMyMac X Do?ĬleanMyMac X gives your Apple computer a spring cleaning so that it runs like new again. The software is no longer maintained by the developer. It’s just as powerful as Gemini 2, but not as user-friendly. OmniDiskSweeper, from The Omni Group, is a similar free utility.ĭupeGuru finds duplicate files on a (Mac, Windows or Linux) system. The app can take quite a few minutes to run. It will take some time to learn how to use the app, and the first time you use the software your Mac will become unresponsive for about ten seconds while it verifies your startup disk.ĪppCleaner removes unwanted apps and cleans up their associated files.ĭisk Inventory X is similar to CleanMyMac’s Space Lens-it helps you visualize the sizes of your files and folders by displaying a graphical representation. OnyX is a powerful freeware utility more suited to technical users. Most of these have a more limited scope, so you’ll need to use several to get the same functionality as CleanMyMac X.ĬCleaner Free is a popular app that will remove temporary files from your Mac and includes some tools that uninstall apps, remove startup items, and erase drives. Your final option is to use freeware cleaning apps. And it doesn’t identify and remove duplicate files like Gemini 2. What’s missing? Besides CleanMyMac’s slicker interface, it doesn’t offer a feature comparable to CleanMyMac’s Space Lens, include an app remover, or run optimization scripts. It cleans up files that may negatively impact the performance of your Mac.It cleans up malware to keep you and your computer safe, and.It cleans up information from apps and the internet that may compromise your privacy,.It frees up space occupied by unneeded files,.MacClean can clean up your Mac in a number of ways: A family license for up to five Macs costs $39.99, and The software comes with a 60-day money-back guarantee. A personal license for one Mac costs $29.99, or you can subscribe for $19.99/year. If you’d like most of the features of CleanMyMac in a more affordable package, have a look at MacClean. It includes more features than CleanMyMac, including Find Duplicates and Defragmentation, and has tools that regularly check your hard drive for physical corruption. The best part? Drive Genius is also used and recommended by the tech geeks at the Apple Genius Bar. The app includes every feature a cleaner app has to offer, plus additional protection against viruses and malware which helps protect your investment from any threat. It’s the runner-up in our Best Mac Cleaner Software review, where my teammate JP sums up the application’s strengths: Read our full review.Īfter a recent price drop, it’s now actually less expensive than purchasing CleanMyMac outright. The Premium Alternative: Drive GeniusĪre you looking for a single app that includes all of the cleanup features you need? Prosoft Engineering’s Drive Genius ($79) is a little harder to use but offers enhanced security and optimization. There are a number of similar apps that are significantly easier on your pocket, as well as free utilities that will clean up your Mac, though you’ll need a small collection of them to match CleanMyMac’s functionality. If you need de-duplication, Gemini 2 will cost you a little more. You can buy it outright for about $90, or subscribe on a yearly basis for about $40. It Costs More Than the CompetitionĬleanMyMac isn’t cheap. There are a few quality Mac cleanup apps that do just that. Rather than purchasing and running two different programs to cover the bases, you might prefer to use just one app that can do it all. Gemini adds the much-needed duplicate file detection and deletion. Our winner is actually a combination of two MacPaw apps-CleanMyMac and Gemini-because CleanMyMac on its own doesn’t have all of the features to compete with the leading competitors. I mentioned earlier that CleanMyMac is the winner of our Best Mac Cleaner Software review, but technically speaking, that’s not the whole story. Why should you consider an alternative? Two reasons: It Lacks Some Features It Helps You Visualize Your Files and FoldersĬleanMyMac X is a great app.

5/17/2023 0 Comments My friend pedro physical releaseStory is obviously not a focus of My Friend Pedro, which is great because it’s pretty awful at telling one. Shotguns, for example, are obviously great up close and can blow enemies to pieces (and you can use those pieces as weapons to kick at other enemies), but they lack the range and flexibility of the dual uzis and pistols which can split their aim to attack multiple targets at once. While the arsenal of weapons is fairly limited and conventional, there’s a great balance between each gun that helps ensure that no weapon ever becomes obsolete. But it’s a small price to pay for how dynamically your character flips through the air, seamlessly moving from a dive to a rope swing and back to a dive, all while conveying a real sense of weight and momentum. The animations do sometimes look a little wonky, especially during wall jumps, melee attacks, and when your character has to unexpectedly land on an object. Graceful Destructionīeyond the bullet time and the stunts, My Friend Pedro simply feels great to play. But the most creative and exciting levels are definitely frontloaded. One such highlight is a train level that has you jumping from car to car, leaving a trail of blood and body parts in your wake. That’s not to say that the back half is bad, and there are certainly high points. The later sewer and internet levels just don’t come close to matching that degree of flow from one area to the next. My favorite level in the whole campaign is an early one with a section that has you shooting your way through a kitchen, with knives flying everywhere that can be kicked into enemies, a frying pan hanging from the wall that can be used to ricochet bullets – and then, in the room right after that, there’s another area where you can throw a frying pan into the air to take out all the enemies above then kick the pan through a window in the next area and take out the baddies without even stepping through the door. The stunts flow together much more cleanly with very little downtime between enemy encounters enemies are less bullet spongey, allowing you to focus more on the spectacle of the action as opposed to just surviving it and overall, the levels are just structured in a way that allows you to have more fun with the environment. That being said, the first half is certainly the stronger of the two. My Friend Pedro has some sort of new idea for just about every level. Whether it be the aforementioned skateboard, a weapon that opens up excitingly deadly possibilities, new stage hazards, enemies, or its own twist on a motorcycle stage. My Friend Pedro is made up of a ton of awesome moments like these, and throughout its short but sweet four or five-hour run time developer DeadToast does a great job of introducing new mechanics that prevent the action from ever becoming stale. The few things that do come close are probably also things that you can do in this game. Few things in video games can come close to matching how cool it feels when you swing from a rope, crash through a window in slow motion, blast two enemies to smithereens with a shotgun while in mid-air, and then stick the landing on a skateboard. It serves not only as a vital means of slowing down the action, but also as a way to enhance the absolutely wild stunts that your character can perform. It’s an age-old concept (especially not getting shot), but where My Friend Pedro sets itself apart is in its sheer commitment to making you feel badass as hell while doing it.īullet time is the core that My Friend Pedro is built on, and while the mechanic itself is obviously nothing new, its implementation here is one of the best it’s ever been. My Friend Pedro is an arcadey score-attack game that’s all about maintaining a multiplier by killing enemies quickly, avoiding getting shot, and finding creative ways to take down each bad guy to maximize your score. With monoliths, there was generally one database instance and one application server. Developers began to realize that microservices came with some serious drawbacks. While microservices solved the scalability and availability issues that had been fundamentally blocking software growth, not all was well. Microservices also brought flexibility to teams and companies as they provided clear lines of responsibility and separation for organizational architectures. And because each microservice maintained its own state it meant your application was no longer limited to what fit on a single machine! Developers could finally build applications that met the scale demands of an increasingly connected world. Microservices seemed great initially because they enabled applications to be broken down into relatively self-contained units that could be scaled independently. The answer they found was microservices (well, service-oriented architectures). They began looking for alternative architectures that would alleviate the scalability issues they were experiencing. Developers and businesses needed to find ways to keep up with rapid global growth and demanding user expectations. Unfortunately, monoliths start to fall apart when scale and availability become requirements. Reliability and availability are no longer features, they are requirements. Every company is now expected to have software products. Software isn’t just powering things behind the scenes anymore, it’s become the end-user experience itself. Companies like Twitter and Facebook have made 24/7 always-online table stakes. Today, applications are expected to serve a global market from day one. Over the last 20 years, demand for software wouldn’t stop growing. There were a handful of companies like Amazon and Google that were running at “scale,” but they were the rare exception, not the rule. Even the biggest of software giants were operating at a scale that seems minuscule today. There weren’t a ton of connected users, which meant the scale requirements for software was minimal. In turn, this meant developers didn’t have to constantly write code to guess at the state of things.įor a long time, monoliths just made good sense. Therefore, monoliths provided a great experience for developers as they meant there was no chance of failed transactions resulting in an inconsistent state. A monolith can mutate any of its state within a single transaction, which means it yields a binary outcome-it worked or it didn’t. Monoliths by nature rely on a single database, which means all state is centralized. The model is simple, consistent, and similar to the experience you get programming in a local environment. Twenty years ago, developers almost always built monolithic applications. In full disclosure, I’m the Head of Product for Temporal, so I might be biased, but I think this approach is the future. After that, we’ll talk about Temporal’s stateful execution model and how it attempts to solve the problems introduced by service-oriented architectures (SOA). In this article, I’ll discuss how we reached this point with a brief stroll through the history of networked applications. Distributing things also introduces a whole new world of problems, many of which were previously solved by monoliths. Distributed architectures have enabled developers to scale and meet the needs of an increasingly connected world. In just 20 years, software engineering has shifted from architecting monoliths with a single database and centralized state to microservices where everything is distributed across multiple containers, servers, data centers, and even continents. 5/16/2023 0 Comments Inkscape gradientNow you have a stroke with a gradient, and mostly it behaves like an ordinary stroke - edit the nodes of the base path, and the stroke changes with it. Use the white stroked path as a mask for the group created earlier. Create yet another linked offset path with no fill, and the same stroke width that the one in step 1, but with white colour (3) If you want to use a stroke style (dotted line etc.) set it for this path. Group this path with the one created in step 1. Create another linked offset, raise it to the top and set its fill to the inner colour, stroke to none and blur it enough to create the stroke gradient (2). First create the base path, then make a linked offset path for it, raise it to the top and set its fill to none and the stroke to the outer colour (1). The blur, together with masking, can fix this problem as well. One of the limitations of the gradient tool, when applied to strokes, is that if you want the gradient to change from the inner edge to the outer, you can only do this for oval-shaped paths. In the lower image all but the outermost path have been blurred. In the image below there is a stepwise gradient created with the interpolate effect (this effect is especially handy for this, because it can interpolate the colour as well). Just create a stepwise gradient with several paths and blur them to make the gradient smooth. The same method is good for making any odd-shaped gradients. If you need more linear gradient, you need to make several intermediary (in size and colour) linked offset paths. You will notice that the colour transition is smoother (rounder) than in normal gradients. To make multi-stop gradient, simply make several linked offsets of different colours and sizes (3). Because the inner path is linked to the outer one, any changes to the outer path will be updated in the shape of the inner one (though you may need to readjust the blur radius if you change the shape radically). Use the node handle to make it smaller than the original path (1) and blur it to create the gradient (2). Then make "Path -> Linked Offset", raise it to the top and set it to the inner colour (or usually somewhat more saturated one, to compensate the mixing when blurred). To make a "radial" gradient of any shape, that is, a gradient that changes from the edge of the path toward the centre, first create the path and set its fill colour to what you want the outer colour to be. When you blur any object different in colour than its background, you are essentially creating a shaped gradient between those colours. To make gradients of other shapes, the Gaussian blur tool becomes handy. For example, the radial gradient is limited to circular or oval in shape. The gradient tool in Inkscape is incredibly useful, but it has its limitations as well. Note: This tutorial was written for Inkscape, but should be applicable for other vector drawing programs with similar functionality. |
